COLORADO GARDEN & HOME SHOW TEAMS UP WITH SPECIAL OLYMPICS COLORADO FOR 61st ANNUAL SHOW

The Entry Garden for 2020 will feature interactive sport displays, medal ceremonies in honor of SOCO’s 2020 Winter Games, meet and greets with athletes and more

DENVER (January 24, 2020) – Colorado Garden Foundation (CGF) announced today a partnership with Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO) to bring the Show’s entry garden to life at the 61st Annual Colorado Garden & Home Show, held Feb. 22-Mar. 1, 2020, at the Colorado Convention Center.

The entry garden, which encompasses 5,500 feet of Special Olympics Colorado-themed interactive sports displays along with hundreds of flowers in bloom, will be installed once again by Laura and Roger Heath from Town & Country Landscaping.

The SOCO-inspired entry garden will showcase the four seasons of the year and their corresponding sports, all in which SOCO athletes participate. The displays include: skiing, ice skating, basketball, volleyball, bowling, soccer, tennis, golf, bocce, biking, swimming, power lifting, and track and field.

As the Colorado Garden and Home Show will overlap with SOCO’s Winter Games, the entry garden will also showcase a podium, complete with cauldron and flowers for medalists, where SOCO athletes will be celebrated. In addition to the award ceremonies, autograph signings and other special events will take place through the Show. That special events lineup is as follows:

Special Olympics athlete meet and greet, and autograph signings, taking place in the Colorado Garden & Home Show entry garden:

  • Monday February 24th from 5-7 pm
  • Friday, February 28th from 5-7 pm

“Each year, the Colorado Garden Foundation engages a fellow Colorado nonprofit to showcase in our Colorado Garden & Home Show entry garden, and we’re delighted to feature SOCO this year,” said Jim Fricke, Executive Director for Colorado Garden Foundation. “During our 61 years, with ticket proceeds from our two shows we’ve funded many gardens and projects that support the special needs community here in Colorado, and SOCO is one such organization that we find deserving of our support and special recognition. We look forward, in particular, to celebrating the achievements of these inspiring athletes in the entry garden during our show.”

“We are thrilled to be featured at this year’s Colorado Home & Garden show,” said Megan Scremin, President & CEO for Special Olympics Colorado.  “This will be a great opportunity for the community to learn more about the power of sports through Special Olympics Colorado, and join our inclusion revolution! We are honored for our athletes to have this platform to share their accomplishments, while being celebrated for them.”

Colorado Garden & Home Show guests are invited to walk through the entry garden and experience the interactive sports displays for themselves, as well as attend meet and greets and autograph signings throughout the show dates. And don’t forget to grab a photo on the podium! As in past years, the Show will also offer seminars and theater sessions on a variety of topics, all covered with the cost of admission, along with 11 inspiring landscaped gardens and ideas, and inspiration and advice from more than 600 companies from 25 states and Canada that will introduce new technologies in landscaping, gardening, energy-efficient heating and cooling products, window treatments, siding, flooring, lighting, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, patio furniture, gutters, sound systems, storage systems, greenhouses, decks, spas and more.
