60th Annual Colorado Garden & Home Show Opens Doors, Saturday, Feb. 9

The Colorado Garden Foundation will once again transform 400,000 square feet of Colorado Convention Center space into a virtual marketplace of garden and home improvement products come February. The 60th Colorado Garden & Home Show sponsored by Bellco, the largest and most prestigious garden and home show west of the Mississippi, will take place Feb. 9-17, 2019.

This year, the Colorado Garden Foundation will recognize its 60-year legacy with a grant award ceremony, awarding more than $500,000 in grants to horticultural projects and organizations across the state, bringing the total contribution to date to more than $9 million.

As in past years, the Colorado Garden and Home Show will showcase 11 inspiring landscaped gardens. This year’s entry garden, designed and built by Laura Heath with Town & Country Landscaping, will be sponsored by Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO). As part of GOCO’s Generation Wild initiative, the entry garden will feature more than 47 of the 100 bucket list items GOCO has identified to get kids outdoors, with the goal of completing the list before they turn 12. Elements from that list include rolling down a grass hill, flying a kite and reading a book under a tree, among other features.

“This will be the first year that the Colorado Garden & Home Show entry garden is completely interactive and participatory,” said Jim Fricke, Executive Director, Colorado Garden Foundation. “We are encouraging parents, grandparents and children to come explore the garden and make lasting memories together. It’s a nice added benefit to the many ideas and inspiration that our show offers to attendees.”

More than 600 companies from 25 states and Canada will introduce new technologies in landscaping, gardening, energy-efficient heating and cooling products, window treatments, siding, flooring, lighting, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, patio furniture, gutters, sound systems, storage systems, greenhouses, decks, spas and more.

The Show will also feature a hot products zone with must-have new gardening and home improvement products, more than 50 free educational seminars and how-to demonstrations throughout the nine days of the event, a kids zone complete with a playground, games and activities, and the annual flower sale on Feb. 13, with proceeds supporting the Arvada Rotary.

One hundred percent of every ticket sold is awarded by the Colorado Garden Foundation in the form of grants and student scholarships, including one four-year, full-ride scholarship to attend a Colorado institution.
